Desktop Air Purifier / Concept Project

Ryoko is a consolidated desktop air purifier that fits seamlessly into any workspace environment, such as an active desktop, office cubicle, or bedside table, whilst providing high-performance air purification. To add an element of visual interest to this product, the designer used Grasshopper 3d, a generative software, to create this unique front-facing pattern to resemble a blossoming wave facade, aesthetically engaging yet functional, allowing maximum airflow through the front-facing panel.
Inspiration for Ryoko's design came from the form of a coffee jar. The silhouette of the packaging informed this product's design language, characterised by soft curves and a streamlined aesthetic; the outcome is a minimalist and sleek structure made out of plasma-cut sheet metal that is visually appealing and practical.
The filter is easily replaceable and can be accessed by removing the enclosed dial panel. The system includes a HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter, which work together to remove pollutants and impurities from the surrounding air.
